Tonight at 6pm we'll be having our Young Librarians group. Want to get more involved in the library and happen to be between the ages 8-12? Join us then! We do lots of fun things such as creating videos just like the one below that Mason created.
Thursday evening we also have a special Mother's Day storytime at 7:15pm. You can sign up here. We'll be reading fun stories and at the end we'll be doing a craft that you can give to your Mom as a gift!
Mr Baker will be here to help with making paper cranes and so will I! ... well I will "be here". As to my ability to make paper cranes? Nope. No such luck. I will be here for moral support.
Today is also World Wish Day! Officially, its in honor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, however there's no reason not to make a wish on your own. Need some help making a wish? Come in and get a wishing star from the children's room or from circulation and we can get you on your way!
National Jelly Bean Day! If you celebrate Easter, you may already have some, but if you don't today's a great day to get some. I'm sure they're all on sale and we must celebrate national holidays the best way we can. :)
Don't forget that we have Minecraft tonight at 6pm. Also, we have Teen Friends and Teens Together on Tuesday starting at 6pm (need volunteer hours? This counts!), and Makerspace Open Hours on Thursday from 5-7 pm. We'll keep you busy this week!
Let's start with the sad news. We have cancelled Cathy's Creativity Club due to lack of registrations. Sorry guys. :(
For our Family Movie on Tuesday, April 16 at 10am, we will be showing Wreck It Ralph Breaks the Internet.
For our teens (ages 13-18) we will be showing The Princess Bride on April 16 at 3pm.
For our younger friends we will be dancing and having a blast on April 18 (MY BIRTHDAY!) at 10am. Its called Fitness Fun, but consider it a little more dancing and playing with scarves and eggs fun.
Finally, on April 19 at 10am we will be welcoming Jimmy C again for a morning of magic and laughter. For this program we require registration, which you can do on our calendar here.
And it's nice that a day was made especially for me to act foolishly. At storytime today Ms. Valerie and I were only allowing ourselves to be silly ... which is why we made it silly storytime!
We read "This is a Taco!" in which the author thinks they're going to tell everyone a general book about squirrels, but the squirrel wants to tell everyone how much he loves tacos. Who can blame him though? Everyday should be Taco Tuesday.
Jan Thomas is just a plain silly goose. In "Is Everyone Ready for Fun?" the cows want to have fun on chicken's sofa but chicken just wants to be left alone. No jumping, No dancing and NO WIGGLING!
In their book "Rhyming Dust Bunnies" the little dust bunnies like to rhyme (except for the blue one, who likes CAT!) but the big mean grey dust bunny has other ideas.
Like silly books? So do we, and we have plenty of them. Come on in and check them out. Know any good jokes? We love those too. Please come in and send them our way! Need ideas? Our joke books are in the non-fiction under 818. Come check them out!
We have cancelled storytimes this week, but for an exciting reason ... Its booksale time! We'll have tons of kids books that you'll be able to get and read to your little ones.
For those of you that might be worried, we have not cancelled Minecraft, Teen Friends, Teens Together and Code Lab.
This week's storytime theme is Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the pig, so we had some really cute piggy books too. Its fun to celebrate different cultures, even if its only in tiny little ways.
This Monday is our monthly Young Librarians group. This time I think we're going to try and create a newsletter to promote the group and promote books. I think it'll be a blast. Hope to see you there!
This week is also Lego Club. I expect great things from everyone!
It occurred to me at some point that blogging regularly at the beginning of the week over blogging regularly at the end of the week makes way more sense. If I was going to tell you everything that was going on this week, it would make more sense to tell you before it happened rather than after it happened.
That's okay though. Only took me a year to think about that. :)
So like now I can tell you that this week's storytime theme is YETIS!
We had our Toddler Time (2-3 years) today at 10am, but we still have Tuesday at 10am for Preschoolers and Thursday at 10am for everyone. Join us! Its a blast and this week you can find out "Are We There Yeti?"
And today we are going to have Minecraft at 6pm. We are still having a blast with Minecraft, so I say come join us!
Tonight its all things color! ... the science of color. Doesn't that sound fabulous? Come and join Miss Valerie as we explore the science behind colors.
October has been so busy with all of our Frankenstein programs, but we are coming to a close. Last week we had an amazing time doing our Frankentober Family Day. People were around all day eating cotton candy, making light art, taking green screen pictures and making slime (plus a bunch more). So at least I had an excuse for not posting last week. :) I had so much fun doing the dark room light art. I'll have to post pictures sometime soon. Once I can get them off my phone. :)
This weekend, as long as it doesn't rain, we are helping with the Trunk or Treat at Davis Park that Town Rec puts on. Then we're coming back to the library to put on our own Halloween parties. One for ages 2-7 at 1pm and one for 8-12 at 3pm. (You do have to sign up for these programs). Hopefully I'm a good girl and don't sneak candy throughout the day ... but, of course, I'll need my energy to keep up with all that, so who knows!
Even if you can't make it to any of these programs, make sure to come to the library on Halloween all dressed up so that we can see how incredible you are. (We may even have some treats then too.)
Its me. I like tech toys.
