I've been jogging a lot and I find it can be very peaceful. Leila has been having a grand old time riding her bike and I think we're going to do a ride bike and run event this afternoon for her birthday (she's 11 today!) ... however that slightly smiling teen on the left? He has no interest in the great outdoors. NONE. I basically have to pick him up and |
drag him outside and even then he's likely to run back inside as fast as possible. Do you have any idea how to get him out there and reasonably happy? Or am I trying to do the impossible? For school he's supposed to get outside and exercise 30 minutes everyday. That has not happened. :( Do you have any handy tips as to how this is possible? Love to hear your ideas! Put them in the comments.

Think big, but not too big because our Friends group is extremely supportive, but we don't have THAT much. :) Anyways, let us know what you think in the comments below!
You get to see it first! Our crazy 3d printer making a team of Eewoks to fight the Empire!
Like what you see? We've been celebrating all day so check out our Youtube May the Fourth Be With You playlist here! Any ideas of future fun holidays we need to celebrate? Please let us know! We're all ears. :) I had these grand plans ... had it for years. Gonna pick up that ukulele and practice like mad. Then life happens. And it doesn't. And then the pandemic happens and I think, I'm going to do it EVERYDAY ... Because what else do I have to do? And a month and a half have flown by and I still have not done anything with it. However Leila joined a week long ukulele fest on Facebook and she has practiced. Even better still, I think she has enjoyed it. Unfortunately for me the ukulele class has been right when we have our daily staff meetings, so I haven't been able to make it with her. Of course, they do save the videos on Facebook, so I should really attempt to watch them on my own. Have I though? NO. Bad girl.
Also, since starting this post I just signed up for ukulele lessons through the group that was doing the ukulele fest so I have no excuse now to actually do them. I must.
All those yellow post-its are about YOU! What types of things can we do in the future since things are so up in the air and crazy recently? There is just so much out there now since everyone is stuck in their houses and everyone is just so bored! So people are creating all these videos and live streaming things, but have they created what YOU want and need? We keep trying to come up with ideas of things we can do for you, but what can we REALLY do? Since we have no idea what this summer is going to be like, we can come up with ideas, but we want YOUR ideas! Please let us know and get creative! I need something new to explore so let's do it together!
I try and think about them and how important they are to me. I also have to do a lot of counting to make sure that it looks like a heart and not a blob, so that helps to distract me as well. This is the pattern that I used: https://www.lilleliis.com/amigurumi-crochet-freebies/amigurumi-heart-pattern/ Okay, so maybe you can't crochet, but i bet you have something that you are talented at: painting, drawing, making things out of playdough or clay. You can do something like that and make it for people that are important to you. Think about them and what they mean to you when you're making it so that it helps distract you and it helps to make it more meaningful.
Try it! It has helped me. See what it can do for you! Send us your pictures either on my blog or on Facebook and we will be doing a raffle on Saturday to choose a random winner who will get a gift card to Target! https://www.facebook.com/chililibrary/ Want more chances to show your love? Its been a lot of fun painting with her. I don't even have all of the paintings up yet. When I do I'll post a better picture of them. :)
What are you guys doing to bond with your kids? I'd love to know so that I can find new things to do with mine as well. :) Our family is also going to do a game night with my sisters' families through Google Hangouts. We all have Candyland so we're all going to play "together". What a great way to connect with little ones that might not have the attention span to sit and chat for too long. I'll tell you all how it goes and hopefully you try it with your families too! Stay safe everyone. I miss you all tons! Leila and I decided to create a puppet for Seedly. She designed the eyes and bow and I sewed up the rest as well as crocheted her two legs. I am growing weary of staring at a computer. :) Learning lots of new things, but I needed to change things up a bit.
My next plan is that if I can find some glue, I will make more flannel pieces for storytime. What kinds of creatures should I make? What have you guys been doing to pass the time (besides all your school/work work)? |
