3/7/2023 - And we are back to our regularly scheduled Spark Lab! Thanks to everyone for their patience during February. Have a creative March!
1/25/2023 - Hi everyone! Starting in the first full week of February, open hours are going to be a little different due to Alex not being in for a couple weeks. Be sure to check the library events calendar or call ahead before coming in to confirm the hours it will be open for. Thank you for your patience, and happy making!
12/13/2022 - As a general note, the Spark Lab open hours on Thursday December 22nd and Thursday December 29th are cancelled. There will be pop up crafts happening during the week between Christmas and New Years [the 27th - 29th], so be sure to pop in and do a craft or grab one to go! No prior registration needed. Check it all out on the library's calendar.
12/17/2021 - Curious as to what you can do in the Spark Lab during open hours? Check out here to find out more!
09/14/2021 - OMG! I'm such a fibber! Starting the first week of October we will begin to have Spark Lab Open Hours. They will be: Monday 10:30-12:30, Tuesday 1:30-3:30, Wednesday 10:30-12:30 and
Thursday 5-8:30 (unless Alex is working on Saturday, so keep an eye out for that one).
He's got lots of awesome ideas to share so make sure to join us!!
Once again, if there are changes, you'll be able to find them on the calendar.

08/12/2021 - We have hired our Makerspace person! His name is Alex and he will start next week. We'll be letting him get acclimated to working here and then starting in September, we will begin to have open hours. We'll have everything laid out in our calendar, which you can find here:

07/17/2021 - This fall, after the summer madness is over, we will begin offering different classes on using the Cricut machine, as well as other items. What types of things would you like offered in the Spark Lab?
05/26/2021 - We are now in the process of getting training together for the 3d printer, Cricut machine and sewing machines. As soon as that is finalized, we will begin opening up the Spark Lab for you to use! Any questions, feel free to email me or call me at 585-889-2200 ext 307. Thanks! Cathy
I want us to start thinking creatively about the things that surround us that we throw away.
Start thinking about the things around you differently.
What could be an empty coffee container to some, could become something totally different.

Here are some websites that we can start looking at to see how we can look beyond regular crafts and move on to something more:
Instructables Website
The seeds of Instructables germinated at the MIT Media Lab as the future founders of Squid Labs built places to share their projects, connect with others, and make an impact on the world. One of these early places was a blog Zeroprestige, which was an open source hardware experiment for kitesurfing. Here they documented their hand-sewn kites, plywood boards, and other general mayhem that happens when PhDs and high winds collide.
Make Magazine
Maker Media is a global platform for connecting makers with each other, with products and services, and with our partners. Through media, events and ecommerce, Maker Media serves a growing community of makers who bring a DIY mindset to technology. Whether as hobbyists or professionals, makers are creative, resourceful and curious, developing projects that demonstrate how they can interact with the world around them.
