What materials will not accrue overdue fines?
All items in CPL children’s and teen collections, including special collections such as Homeschooling, Launchpads, Parenting, Playaways, Steam-To-Go Kits, Story Spoons, and Video Games
What materials will accrue overdue fines?
All items in CPL’s adult and general interest collections, including Broadway Bags, Spark Lab Spark Kits, and DVDs, will continue to accrue overdue fines.
*Items from other Monroe County Library System (MCLS) libraries that charge overdue fines on children’s, teen, and adult materials will still accrue overdue fines.
Because patrons receive the first available copy of an item to fill their hold request, they might receive an item from an MCLS library that charges overdue fines.
Currently libraries that do not charge overdue fines on children and teen materials are, Chili Public Library, Rochester Public Library and Branches, Gates Public Library, Fairport Public Library, Hamlin Library, Henrietta Public Library, Irondequoit Public Library, Parma Public Library, Penfield Public Library, Pittsford Community Library, Rush and Webster Public Library.
Will patrons be billed for children and teen materials that are not returned?
Yes, children’s and teen items must be returned for patrons not be charged for their replacement. They will be billed replacement costs and $5 processing fee for overdue items that are not returned after 42 days.

Yes, the Chili Library has a black and white photocopy machine and the cost per page is $.20.

How do I get a library card?
The Chili Public Library requires a picture ID with your current address (i.e., driver's license, passport, work ID) If your ID does not have a current address, the library accepts a checkbook, piece of mail (utility bill), or pay stub with your address in addition to your picture ID.
How do I get my child a library card?
For a child to receive a library card, their parent or legal guardian must fill out an application in our presence. There is no age limit for a library card.
How long can I keep the items I check out?
DVDs and Quick Read Books have a one-week loan period. Quick Loan DVDs have a two-day loan period and all other materials have a three-week loan period. All items may be renewed except: DVDs marked NEW, Quick Loan DVDs, items on hold for another patron, and Quick Reads.
How much are the fines?
Fines are $.35 per item per day that the library is open, with the exception of Quick Loan DVDs which have a late fee of $1.00 per day.
Is there a limit to the number of items I can check out?
Yes, there is a limit of seven DVDs per individual. All other items are unlimited.
May I return my items to any library?
Yes, items from the Chili Public Library may be returned to any Monroe County public library.

Though all our volunteer positions are presently filled, we appreciate your interest and invite you to come in and complete a volunteer application, available at the library, for us to keep on file should an opening occur.

Patrons who choose to make a donation in memory or in honor of a friend or loved one may send a check with an accompanying note stating the honoree's name. With the money the library may purchase a book and will insert a special bookplate acknowledging the donation. The library will notify the family about the donation. All donations made to the Chili Public Library are tax deductible. Gifts to the Memorial Fund will be acknowledged by the Director.
