Jul 25-31: fairy Tales

7/26/2021

Happy Monday!
We have a whole area dedicated to fairy tales that Miss Laura keeps together for us. Fairy tales (also known as myth or folklore) have an interesting history. They were originally oral tales and some date back to the bronze age.
According to this BBC article:
"They have been told since before even English, French and Italian existed. They were probably told in an extinct Indo-European language." In the 19th Century, authors the Brothers Grimm believed many of the fairy tales they popularised, including Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel and Snow White, were rooted in a shared cultural history dating back to the birth of the Indo-European language family.
You have to watch out for some of those fairy tales btw. Some are awful dark!
