Yesterday (Thursday) when I normally write my blog post I was recovering from an exhausting morning playing Candyland ... and by exhausting, I mean EXHAUSTING. There was so much running around ... and not just by me, but by all the small children too. They had such a blast! There were about 75 people throughout that hour, roaming the rainbow bridge and gumdrop pass. Didn't get to make it? COME VISIT ON SATURDAY! Plus you'll get to play Monopoly! What could be better?
Miss Valerie and Miss Miranda have gone super crazy and created some amazingly huge games that really need to be played ... BY YOU! (This means you too teens.)

What do You Love Right Now?

Happy belated Valentine's Day everyone! Plus Happy belated Birthday to my Mom! Thanks to my Mom's birthday, Valentine's Day has always been super special.
Which has been trouble in the past for my kids, because they were always required to make Valentine's Day cards for their classmates and not get purchased ones. It used to also be trouble for my husband, because expectations were high. Luckily, now all it takes is an "I love you" and I'm pretty much set.
How do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Do you even celebrate it?

Onto the next question. So what do you love right now? Any special books, music or food? I definitely am all for the Easter egg peanut butter cups. They are soooo good. Probably a little too good, in fact.
I'm also in love with this musician Mariee Sioux.
Mariee Sioux is an American folk singer-songwriter. Her father Gary Sobonya is a mandolin player of Polish and Hungarian descent, and her mother Felicia is of Spanish, Paiute, and Indigenous Mexican descent. (from Google Music)
My music playlists on Google Music sometimes look totally random to me sometimes. I sometimes wonder what they would look to other people. I might be considered a little crazy. Folk music, electronic music, rap music, hard rock music, classical music ... really just about everything except country music.

Last one. What book do I love? Right now I love All's Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson. Its a wonderful graphic novel by the woman who did Roller Girl, which I also loved. They are both about girls who are not your standard girls. They are very unique individuals which, as we all know, makes it super difficult in middle school. For Imogene, a previously homeschooled girl who spends her summers at Renaissance festivals with her parents, life is even more difficult.

It is an incredible book about the struggles of middle school and it even made me cry at one point. What a baby. :)

Already Planning for Summer

Personally, I have a hard time thinking of what I'm going to have for dinner, let alone what I'm doing in a few months. However publicly, I have to pretend that I am totally put together. Luckily I have my library buddies with me to help me figure out what it is that we are doing. So far I think we've got some pretty neat plans. One of our highlights so far is Checkers.
This summer I hope to know how to finally play my ukulele a little bit because it will be a whole bunch of music awesomeness since the theme is

So what are you up for? What kinds of things should we do to make this summer rock?

Starting to Feel a Little Old

A few days ago I went to get some coffee and a woman said "Hey! Aren't you the librarian that does the photography contest? I own my own Photography business now!" I felt so old right then. OMG. She's an adult and she was young at one point when I was still an adult. AND NOW SHE OWNS HER OWN BUSINESS! (Not supposed to advertise, but she was one of my teens so there: www.edelweissphotography.net
That was a few days ago. Then I went to get shoes for my son and as he's trying them on ... WE HAVE THE SAME SHOE SIZE. Plus he's going to be THIRTEEN. I'm so not ready for all this stuff. I love you teens, but then you get all grown up and you make me feel old.
That's why I want all of you to bring your infants to the library on Tuesdays at 10:30am for baby storytime (or any other time for that matter) because you are all cute little babies and you don't make me feel old. You make me feel like I should play on the floor with you.
